«After thirty years my admiration for this play has only grown – says Peter Stein - I have left the setting In the Berlin of 1983  to give audiences the chance to admire how topical it is. Many things that Strauss had imagined thirty years ago are now staring us right in the face. The degeneration of sexuality into mere merchandise, or a simply game of physical strength, the relapse into behaviour which I would describe as primitive, such as racism and the use of religion as a  political weapon; the loss of memory, the disorientation of the new generations, the fear of crises and the end, the commercialisation of art and many other aspects which perfectly describe the world of today…».

Loosely based on A Midsummer Night's Dream by Shakespeare, Der Park (The Park) is a play rich in ideas which, as the director Peter Stein claims, are now more than ever relevant.
These themes will be discussed with the public by Maddalena Crippa, who plays the lead role of Titania, and the company of the play.

Der Park will run at the Teatro Strehler from 25 November to 6 December 2015
