For its XVIII edition, Orchestra Senza Confini takes on the classic styles of jazz, pays homage to Frank Sinatra on the one hundredth anniversary of his birth, and presents a slice from one of the most active jazz scenes in Italy. A programme which is, as always, original and mould-breaking, with projects created especially for the occasion and interpreted by an orchestra which in 2016 will celebrate twenty years of artistic and educational activity, enriched with prestigious soloists and important guest groups. The meeting of jazz styles, composers and artists who have taken their inspiration from jazz is a characteristic of the festival, as is the choice of guests. Telesforo has been invited for his "non-Sinatra" style, and he will bring a personal interpretation to this celebration, which is intended to be much more than a carbon-copy. Dixieland is represented by a legendary group from the Milanese musical panorama, while Swing in embodied in a modern key by Tomelleri. For Bebop, soloists of the highest profile and originality will use the language of Parker and Gillespie. Gershwiniana will exalt the multifaceted talent of musician and improviser Michele Di Toro, offering a taste of the multiform and transversal world of Gershwin. Last but not least, the sensational Sicilian jazz scene will be presented through various generations of musicians with arrangements by Giovanni Mazzarino.
