The family is made up of seven sisters: Gina, Cetty, Maria, Katia, Lia, Pinuccia and Antonella. It is the funeral of one of the sisters: after the ceremony, the women pause to remember, to recall, to reproach, to dream and to cry and laugh about their story. The dead people are upstage, ready to appear and disappear, and to take away the dead sister; while a line of tape on the floor signals the border between here and there, between now and never again, between is and was: a line over which one can still fight, in the style of Sicilian puppets, brandishing swords and shields.
