Teatro Strehler
For 20 years the Milano Film Festival has promoted Italian and international independent cinema and talent. An in-depth study of language and content, examining with interest those artistic productions which use new technology and rework formats and genres, with a special regard for emergent cinema as well as the grand, 'irregular' masters of world cinema. The nerve centre of the festival will be, as it has been for the last fifteen years, the Teatro Strehler di Milano, with its forecourt, and the Teatro Studio, supported by Parco Sempione, the true piazza of the Festival, as well as other locations throughout the city which will come to life for 11 days of cinema, music and meetings with international guests and directors, bringing over 100,000 people from all around the world in front of the screens for two weeks in Milan. The programme includes theInternational Feature Film Competition, open exclusively to first and second films from directors from all around the world, all showing for their Italian premiere; the traditional International Short Film Competition, reserved for directors under the age of 40; Colpe di Stato - State (t)error -, the classic non-competing film review which examines the complex realities of world powers; all supported by other non-competition sections, film previews, guests, workshops and parallel events.
