The ninth edition of Milan Flamenco Festival ends with Eva Yerbabuena, one of the greatest and most anticipated interpreters of contemporary flamenco, winner of the National Dance Award, who comes to Milan for the first time with her most intimate performance: Ay!
Teatro Strehler
For its ninth edition, the “MilanoFlamencoFestival” this year focusses on highly topical themes - identity, dialogue, integration - around which the shows staged by prestigious Spanish companies are constructed.
Three shows will be staged at the Piccolo: in addition to Ay! at the Teatro Strehler, the Teatro Studio will host Guerrero - Warrior by Eduardo Guerrero (5 July 2016) and Moratana - Mora y Gitana by the Pastora Galván company (6 July 2016).
Eva Yerbabuena, one of the greatest and most anticipated interpreters of contemporary flamenco, winner of the National Dance Award, comes to Milan for the first time with her most intimate performance: Ay!
“Ay” is the symbolic cry of flamenco, as well as a universal cry - of suffering and anger but also of happiness and celebration -, a cry which identifies us all without distinction as human beings, united by the same “ay”. The sensibility and the great interpretive strength of this artist, adored by Pina Baush and by Carolyn Carlson, with whom she has shared the stage on a number of occasions, is profoundly captivating and fascinating in this show of universal significance.
