Julius Caesar, Macbeth, King Lear, Richard III: the great tragedies that Shakespeare dedicated to the theme of power are at the centre of Shakespeare in film: 5 (+1) visite guidate by Arturo Cattaneo, anglist, and Gianluca Fumagalli, director.
The evening will begin with the 1953 blockbuster Julius Caesar with Marlon Brando in the role of Mark Antony, to finish with Al Pacino’s backstage to Richard III in Looking for Richard.
The series will continue on Thursday 17 March with a discussion entitled “Usi e abusi” during which the conversation will focus on transpositions and parodies of Shakespeare, from the comedy of Woody Allen to the first television appearance of the Beatles with a parody of A Midsummer Night’s Dream...
The final appointment in the series will be held in the Aula Magna of the Università Cattolica on Thursday 21 April 2016 at 9 pm for the showing of Shakespeare in Love, the Oscar winning Hollywood rewrite.
