From the internet to reality, the meeting between Marta and Matteo - she is a prostitute who aspires to being an actress, he is an ex-writer who now kills poets - brings to life a dialogue of love, desperate, ferocious, in search of truth for themselves and with others. Because one should not leave themselves to live, they should truly live.
Teatro Grassi
A man and a young woman. Matteo and Marta. Marta dreams of being an actress but she works as a prostitute, Matteo possible wrote poetry in the past, now he kills poets because their presence reminds him of “my absence from this world, from every world”. They come across each other on the internet and decide to meet up, but it seems that they already met years ago: in Venice, during a student demonstration. The encounter leads to a dialogue which is desperate, ferocious, in search of the truth with themselves and with others.
Natura morta con attori is a fiery work of a rare beauty. The drama touches on all of the important themes that run through the history of the theatre and of thought with an unsuppressible urgency: the dilemma of being and not being, of identity and truth, of language in relationship to the world and of its possibilities to describe it. But above all it is love which speaks: love as abandonment, as the only chance to exist, beyond all representations of ourselves. Representation, which seems to have become the only way for us to encounter others and the world, is in a certain sense the antagonist of this work.
