When we are at home and it’s raining outside, what thoughts do we have for those left outside in the rain? A stark set, a black backdrop, the sky in the title evoked solely by a narration entrusted to the dialogue, suspended between dreams and urban reality, held between four actors involved in a piece which, for Pasolini, was probably an example of that which he meant by “Theatre of the word”.
The duo Deflorian/Tagliarini, joined on stage by Francesca Alberici and Monica Demuru, stages a possible dialogue between fiction and the outside world, the real world.
An exchange between “us” and the various figures which populate our urban landscape. “We examine insecurity and privilege, falls, failure, accidents and fears”, explain the writers. “We speak of the need for support, for encounters which, however fleeting they may be, become revelations, but this real, every-day dimension is contaminated by dreams. This has allowed us to enter more easily into the reality of the Other, to appropriate something which does not regard us directly, to include song into the text, to combine different levels without worrying about the linearity of time and space. In dreams, everything takes place in a believable present, everything is true and everything is not true. Even the pact with the audience is tinged with these tones: we ask them to not settle on first impressions, but to re-examine the same thing time and time again. The first possible action with regards to a rapport with others is, for us, an activation of sight”.
During the performance, a continuous play on memories and dreams, the actors will ask the audience to close their eyes for a few seconds: this is a ploy which involves the audience in the same dramaturgic mechanism proposed by the writers which opens and closes one’s eyes on single visions
