Following on from The tempest and Macbeth, the Carlo Colla & Figli Puppetry Company returns to Shakespeare with a new production for the Piccolo, A midsummer night’s dream. The Bard's most densely fascinating and mysterious work, in the abridgement and adaptation for puppets by Eugenio Monti Colla.

Following on from The Tempest, translated and played by Eduardo De Filippo, and Macbeth created with the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, both also staged at the Piccolo Teatro, Eugenio Monti Colla returns to Shakespeare and chooses A midsummer night’s dream for the new production by the Carlo Colla & Figli Puppetry Company, which debuts at the Piccolo Teatro in the summer of 2018. A dramaturgical journey which, for Eugenio Monti Colla, represents “intangible visuals rich with suggestion, suspended between the sky and the earth”.
“It is perhaps the most dense with charm and mystery of Shakespeare’s works - continued the director, who also wrote the adaptation for puppets -. The intrigue of loves which transform and intertwine in a forest which is a real as it is dreamed, inhabited by fantastic creatures, in turn the players and creators of an amorous game which involves humans and enchanted creatures The mystery of a reality in transformation: to seem, to be, to sleep, to dream, to awaken, all the result of magical enchantment which deceives and misleads. This whirlwind game is enriched by the performance of the artists: theatre within theatre, chaotic sounds and profound silences, poetry and non-poetry in the refined game of creating entertainment”.
Duration: one hour and 45 minutes with interval
