The MitJazz Festival ends with the traditional Saint Ambrose concert: the Civica Jazz Band conducted by Enrico Intra presents the world premiere of the music of the famous Modern Jazz Quartet arranged for an orchestra.
Teatro Strehler
The second edition of the MitJazz Festival at the Piccolo Teatro with the concerts Nor Sea, Nor Land, Nor Salty Waves at the Teatro Studio on Tuesday 5 December 2017 at 9 p.m, Italian way at the Teatro Studio on Wednesday 6 December at 9 p.m., and Una Band per il Modern Jazz Quartet at the Teatro Strehler on Thursday 7 December at 11 a.m.
The Civica Jazz Band is presented here in a smaller form, with twelve musicians, to play a unique programme, which, for the first time ever, presents the music of the famous Modern Jazz Quartet arranged for an orchestra thanks to a very varied mix of great artists. Enrico Intra, Luca Missiti e Marco Visconti Prasca will be exploring the pages of the MJQ, maintaining the clarity and the charm of the original compositions by John Lewis (Milano, Afternoon in Paris, Blues in Minor, Django, Véndome) and Milt Jackson (Bag’s Groove). A world which, translated into the context of a small band, will find new colour which will exhalt the quality of the writing of a formidable group, which has a permanent place in the hearts of enthusiasts.
