The Iliad is a poem set during the legendary Trojan war, which exalts the passions and the actions of heroes and gods that took part. It is the story of the lives of all the people involved in that war. The play - through the eyes of Heinrich Schliemann, the archaeologist that discovered the ruins of Troy - follows the thread that ties legend, epic and narration to the present.

The Iliad is a poem set during the legendary Trojan war, which exalts the passions and the actions of heroes and gods that took part. It is the story of the lives of all of the people involved in that war, soldiers and civilians, heroes, women and children, the perfect description of an enormous tragedy and the repercussions on the community. Between the lines of Homer’s beautiful verse lies the pain for the death of a son or a husband, a brother or a friend, the desperate fight to defend ones own city or honour, the fear of destruction and loss. The Trojan war, the first Western conflict of which there is a written account, becomes, in this theatrical representation, the “matrix for all wars”. Taking this as its starting point, the play - through the eyes of Heinrich Schliemann, the archaeologist that discovered the ruins of Troy - follows the thread that ties legend, epic and narration to the present.
Times, eras and wars change, but the themes that regard mankind are destined to always remain the same.
Duration: one hour and 15 minutes without interval
