Haifa is an old Iraqi woman who, in 2015, travelled 5,000 km to help her granddaughter escape the war. Stefano Massini transformed that journey into a modern epic, which has been entrusted to the acting of Ottavia Piccolo and the music composed and conducted by Enrico Fink for the Orchestra Multietinca di Arezzo.

In 2015 an old woman travelled 5,000 km, from Iraq to the Baltic States, along the Balkan route, to get her and granddaughter as far away from the horrors of war as possible. Stefano Massini told the chilling and formidable story in an article for an important European newspaper, to then transform it into a theatrical piece, “treating the reality of the facts like a fertile ground - he explains - on which to nurture the sapling of a modern epic. ... Haifa’s journey becomes part of the list of legends before which Homer would take a bow: they are already legends, it is impossible not to give them a written form”.
“The music - adds Enrico Fink - contributes to the telling of the thousand places crossed by the protagonist during her journey; the phantasmagoria of different environments, climates, spaces, the mosaic of contemporary European cities, challenged by identity, culture and difference”. Ottavia Piccolo plays Haifa, because “she helps me to not look away. I walk with Haifa, and I will never be the same again”.
Duration: one hour 30 minutes without interval
