A European and an Arab girl in a North African city. Cultures which look out over the same sea, the Mediterranean, but which appear different in terms of values and sensitivity. Ambiguous and contradictory, they are presented theatrically in ten scenes, snapshots of a journey in search of oneself and of others.

Teatro Grassi
A work on the condition of women and the power of men, with which Davide Carnevali won the Riccione Theatre Award in 2013. The writer uses ten fragments, ten snapshots reminiscent of the pictures of Edward Hopper, to tell of a verbal battle which generates distance and increases misunderstanding. It is an unpredictable reflection on migrations and cultural clashes, and at the same time an exploration of the possibilities of the tragic in contemporary life.
A European tourist in an unspecified North African city meets an Arab girl who is watching the sea at sunset. It is the first in a series of encounters between the two, but also between the man, the foreigner, and the local people, in a period of time which seems suspended, just as the word which should form a bridge between the two main characters is elusive, precarious and ambiguous. The city is the silent character which contains everything, a platform on which to construct the game, on which the European begins a journey which will be a hand-to-hand fight with his own conscience.
Duration: one hour and 25 minutes without interval
