A press conference, four journalists insist with a number of American officials for the truth on the bombings in Iraq. A blend of lies and reticence, a reflection on this war which, like all conflict, had devastating consequences, above all for civilians.
Teatro Grassi
Included as one of the initiatives for the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the 18th edition of Tramedautore – International Festival of Dramaturgy directed by Michele Panella, focuses on a new generation of artists from Italy, France, Spain and Germany, immersed in a period of great fragility and political, social-cultural and individual paradoxes.
In addition to the plays, the Chiostro Nina Vinchi will play host to discussions, performances and concerts.
Hotel Palestine
Written in 2004 by Falk Richter, one of the most interesting of contemporary German writers, the play focuses on four journalists who, during a press conference at the Hotel Palestine in Baghdad, push four officials from the American administration to learn the truth on the bombings carried out by USA troops in Iraq. A rapid and energetic dialogue in which the author reflects on falsehood and reticence, a part of this and all other wars, representing the need for truth, involving the spectator in a gradual uncovering of the lies told by America and the devastating consequences that the war in Iraq has caused over the years particularly with civilians.
Falk Richter (1969, Hamburg), writer, translator and director, he works with various theatres, including the Hamburg Schauspielhaus, Zurich Schauspielhaus , Salzburger Festspiele, Vienna States Opera, Ruhrtriennale, Théâtre National Brussels, Royal National Theatre Oslo, Frankfurt Opera. Since 2000 he has been the resident director at the Berlin Schaubühne, where he also developed his tetralogy Das System.
