Following the success of In nome del padre, this is the second chapter in the trilogy which Mario Perrotta is dedicating to the family, together with the support of Massimo Recalcati. The focus is on the Mother, a figure which is sacred - at least in Italy - often suffocating her children, at times to the exclusion of their father.

Following the success of In nome del padre, this is the second chapter in the trilogy which Mario Perrotta is dedicating to the family, together with the support of Massimo Recalcati. A focus on the figure of the Mother.
“A figure which has, over time, maintained a form of sacredness and omniscience which renders it above judgement, above all good and evil - writes Perrotta, this time accompanied by Paola Roscioli -. She is so involved in her role that she risks suffocating her children and excluding those few fathers who wish to completely fulfil their role. At the centre of all of this, once again, the children are physically absent from the scene, while playing a pivotal role in the story”.
The trilogy is the result of an intense encounter with the psychoanalyst Massimo Recalcati, who has dedicated a large part of his work to family relationships. “The play is an opportunity to present the contemporary metamorphosis of the maternal figure, together - however - with that which concerning the mother lies beyond the story; her fundamental role in guaranteeing the passing on of the sentiment of life; the symbol of a form of care which is always particular and never anonymous”.
