From the novel to the stage. The last of Dostoevsky’s masterpieces comes to the stage in the adaptation by Glauco Mauri and Matteo Tarasco.

«Dostoevsky, Shakespeare and Beckett were the three great writers who have helped me in my attempt to understand life: Shakespeare’s immense palate of colours representing the human soul, and the tragedy of life which becomes farce and the farce of life which turns into tragedy in the work of Beckett and Dostoevsky, all led me to understand the magnificent responsibility that mankind has in understanding itself”.
It is with these words that Mauri introduces the work which, together with Roberto Sturno and the director Matteo Tarasco, has been carried out on The Brothers Karamazov, the last of Dostoevsky’s novels.
The story of three brothers, Dmitri (passion), Ivan (reason) and Alexei (love), their terrible father, Fyodor , debauched and violent, and Smerdyakov, their step-brother and servant, comes to the stage. Who killed Fyodor, and why? Was it Dmitri, the prime suspect, or was it someone else? The exceptional nature of Karamazov, beyond the main plot of the novel, also lies other pages of extraordinary beauty such as The Grand Inquisitor, or in the long discussion between the atheist Ivan and the religious Alexei on the sense of the suffering of innocents, in particular of children, in a world which is allegedly governed by divine intervention.
“It is a Russian-style comédie humaine, - concludes Tarasco - where money, mud and blood flow together. An absolute, ruthless, and extreme story which leaves no room for redemption”.

Reservations
Reservations are available exclusively for subscription holders. Reservations are valid up to one month before the chosen date: for example, if a reservation is made for a show performing on 15 March, the seats must be confirmed by 15 February. The reservation must be picked up by the deadline at the Teatro Strehler box office or via the box office line.
Unconfirmed reservations will be automatically cancelled.
It is not possible to make reservations less than one month before the chosen performance date.
Please remember that printed vouchers cannot be either substituted or refunded.
Oro subscription holders can cancel vouchers which have already been issued by and no later than 6 p.m. on the day before the date on the voucher free of charge.
Important information regarding Subscriptions
For subscription holders under the age of 26 or over the age of 65, the issuing of reduced-price subscriptions is possible exclusively on presentation of a valid form of identity at the Teatro Strehler box office.
