Camelia Ghazali, born in 1985, and her company, the Praxis Theater Group, present a personal and collective story, an investigation into femininity which takes its cue from contemporary Iranian society to examine universal themes on the affirmation of women’s identity and their difficulty in establishing a role.

Born in 1985, Camelia Ghazali lives and works in Tehran, where, together with the playwright Toomaj Daneshbehzadi, she has founded the Praxis Theater Group, and has already toured in Germany and the Netherlands. The group is one of the most active in the construction of shared cultural fabric in contemporary Iranian society.
Set out in scenes, without the support of a traditional narration, the play explores the inner self of women. “Female life - explains Camelia Ghazali - is physiologically intertwined with pain. But there is also another form of suffering, a form of inhumanity, which is inflicted on women by the society in which they live and which refuses to listen to their voice”.
One of the actresses on stage insistently repeats the sentence: “I’m a Woman. Do you hear me?” (Sono una donna. Mi senti?). In this cry to be heard, obsessively repeated and continuously ignored by the surrounding world, lies the key to Ghazali's work. “The question that every Iranian woman asks - explains the director - is “Who am I?”. Defining our identity is easy in relation to the rhythms of nature, but it is complex in relation to the outside world. This is the origin of the fear of not being heard or considered, of not being perceived and therefore of being ignored. The atmosphere of the play is a dance melody, in which various female voices come together like the tiles in a mosaic to compose the intimate and inner reflections of women”.
