A blend of music and literature, the second appointment of the MIT Jazz Festival is with the Claudio Angeleri Ensembe in a concert dedicated to Italo Calvino and inspired by the short novel The Castle of Crossed Destinies.
Teatro Studio Melato
Following the concert Sound Planets with Enrico Intra and Alex Stangoni (Teatro Grassi, 4 November), MIT Jazz Festival continues with A tribute to Italo Calvino with the Claudio Angeleri Ensemble. The last appointment in the Festival (Teatro Grassi, 18 November) will be with The swing of Lucio Dalla with the Civica Jazz Band conducted by Intra and guest starring Paolo Tomelleri and Tony Arco’s group Time Percussion.
The relationship between music and literature is the foundation of the offering by the pianist and composer Claudio Angeleri, and will be based on the world of Italo Calvino, to whom the Bergamo-born musician had already dedicated a work based on Invisible cities.
On this occasion the music will be inspired by another work, The Castle of Crossed Destinies, from which the great actor Luca Daddino will be reading significant extracts.
Using the qualities of a band made up of young talents and by figures from Italian jazz such as Giulio Visibelli, Paola Milzani and Marco Esposito, who have been accompanying Angeleri for many years, the music will be organised on a contrapuntal level, exploiting the colour and character of the instruments and musicians and taking its cue from the ideas stimulated by the readings, emerging in musical sketches of various nature ranging from the use of tonal progression to jazz modalism and even seriality.
A cross-genre project of great topicality.
