In an impossible dialogue, Lucretius and Seneca discuss the themes which have characterised their lives and their philosophical research, finding themselves to be continuously in opposing camps. Enzo Vetrano and Stefano Randisi stage this dualism, which instead of providing answers, leads to further questions.

Teatro Studio Melato
Lucretius and Seneca, two authors who wrote the history of European thinking, but are above all the symbols of two opposing concepts of the world. They lived a century apart but approached the same themes: politics, religion, death. Yet they are different, opposed on every front. Political or apolitical? Stay on the side-lines to observe the storm of life or climb aboard without seeing who your fellow passengers are? Adopt the laws of the universe or the laws of the Self? When faced with God and mortality, believe or understand?
The Latinist Ivano Dionigi has brought them together in an impossible dialogue where the word and the reasoning (logos) of one encounters and traverses (dia-) the word and reasoning of the other.
Enzo Vetrano and Stefano Randisi, for forty years the creators of a form of experimental theatre, an opportunity for reflection aimed at “awakening” the consciousness, bring these two emblematic figures to the stage through an encounter which is characterised by a dual identity, superimposable and contrasting. The encounter provides no answers, because as soon as you start to side with one, you begin to wonder whether the other might instead be right, but what emerges is a dialectical confrontation which is born from their shared aversion to a single school of thought.
Duration: 65 minutes without interval
