Born and raised in a family of cinema, theatre and circus artists, James Thierrée brings to the stage the strange story of Raoul, in a show in which “solitude is countered by abundance and folly”.

Teatro Strehler
“A man without either cover or depth. Only solitude knows the melody. Its space, its time, is filled with that which is and that which is not, as it is contemplated by no-one. Save for in the theatre... I wish to create a theatrical character in the noble sense of the term, one which is timeless”. Thus James Thierrée explains the creation of the strange, mysterious and moving figure of Raoul.
In an enigmatic show which enchants and captivates the audience, full of symbolism but at the same time simple to understand from an emotional point of view, Thierrée weaves the knowledge on which his artistic development is based. Theatre, circus, dance and visual arts all come together to create a unique theatrical experience, a performance which unites extraordinary technical quality and highly suggestive visual impact with the tenderness and empathy that the character himself evokes in the audience.
Immersed since childhood in a universe of acrobatics and circus, he performed in shows such as Le Cirque Bonjour, Le Cirque Imaginaire, Le Cirque Invisible. He also learned to play the violin, and he studied dance, magic and mime. With the shows by his ensemble, La Compagnie du Hanneton, he has won the Molière Award, the most important for French Theatre, countless times. He has worked for many other directors, including Robert Wilson, Benno Besson, Peter Greenaway and, in cinema, Agnieszka Holland, Roland Joffé, Coline Serreau, Tony Gatlif, Jacques Doillon, Claude Miller, Roschdy Zem, Jean-François Richet.
Duration: One hour and 40 minutes without interval
