Poetry, emotion, laughter, tenderness, warmth from being with your loved ones and shivers from the cold wind that whips across the Russian steppe, setting off snowstorms... its SLAVA’S SNOWSHOW, the brilliant and unmissable appointment for audiences both young and old
-
Teatro Strehler
A series of scenes and images each more original and surprising than other, this is SLAVA’S SNOWSHOW, the show with which the Russian clown Slava Polunin has been bringing snow to theatres around the world since 1993.
“One day - he explains - I understood that I wanted to create a show which could transport us back into our childhood dreams, which could help people rediscover their infancy... I wanted my character to be epic and lyrical, tender and overwhelming, smart and naive”.
A native of Siberia, he understood that the originality of his show lay in the element that has accompanied his since birth, the snow. Thus, inspired by the landscape and the legends of his country, he created a performance in which poetry and special effects are perfectly combined.
SLAVA considers his SNOWSHOW to be a work in progress, enriched every season with new scenes, ideas, inventions, effects and characters.
His tender and romantic clown in yellow overalls and red slippers is the heir to the grand tradition of Leonid Engibarov, as well as the pantomime of Marcel Marceau and Charlie Chaplin’s unforgettable Tramp, all considered by Slava to be his masters.
Slava manages numerous projects and festivals, including the creative laboratory he himself created, the Moulin Jaune, on the outskirts of Paris, and the International Academy of Fools, of which he is president. He directs the New Circus section of the International Cultural Forum in Saint Petersburg. He directed the most important and oldest circus in Russia, the Bolshoi Saint Petersburg State Circus, from 2013 to 2016.
