"Tramedautore" plays host to one of the most interesting artists from Kosovo, Jeton Neziarj, with the exhilarating play A play with four actors and some pigs and some cows and some horses and a prime minister and a milka cow and some local and international inspectors, about Kosovo’s aspirations to enter the European Community, and on the difficulties regarding the requested requirements.
Teatro Grassi
Tramedautore 2019 is an examination of Euro-Mediterranean culture, intrinsically plural, creating a festival of performance that examines the rules of cohabitation, helping to reconstruct horizons and overcome solitude. Among the proposals from Italy, a focus on Sicilian drama, while on the international front the festival lends a voice to one of the most interesting artists from Kosovo and a multilingual conference/show.
As well as the shows, the Chiostro will be playing host to a cycle of 10 events, Camp degli Autori. Click here for the complete programme.
A play with four actors and some pigs and some cows and some horses and a prime minister and a milka cow and some local and international inspectors This exhilarating play with the mile-long title tells how, following Great Britain’s exit from the EU, Kosovo is unexpectedly given the opportunity to become part of the European Union, on the condition that it satisfies the standards that Europe has set for entry. If it fails, the opportunity will pass to Serbia.
One of the plants that needs to be brought up to standard is the Pristina slaughterhouse, that needs to begin selling meat of certified quality. In an attempt to meet these conditions, the owners of the slaughterhouse begin a Kafta-esque journey through state bureaucracy, coming up against officials and bureaucrats. And while in the new country they innocently work to face up to this new challenge, the Orwellian world of animals begins to move, and seeks to exploit this political situation to demand more humane butchery.
Jeton Neziraj is the author of over 20 theatrical works that have been staged in Europe and the United States and translated into more than 15 languages. He has participated as a playwright in the play Humana Vergogna, directed by Silvia Gribaudi, as part of the events for Matera European Capital of Culture 2019.
