The 2019 edition of "Tramedautore" ends with La veglia by Rosario Palazzolo, a sardonic, ironic and harrowing play.
Teatro Grassi
Tramedautore 2019 is an examination of Euro-Mediterranean culture, intrinsically plural, creating a festival of performance that examines the rules of cohabitation, helping to reconstruct horizons and overcome solitude. Among the proposals from Italy, a focus on Sicilian drama, while on the international front the festival lends a voice to one of the most interesting artists from Kosovo and a multilingual conference/show.
As well as the shows, the Chiostro will be playing host to a cycle of 10 events, Camp degli Autori. Click here for the complete programme.
La Veglia
Carmela is a tiny, sullen and tender woman; she has a harsh tongue and a wicked mouth that spews hate and sarcasm, making fun of the common language. A learned linguistic revolt, constant invention, all signs of a composed, silent and subdued desperation, made to sit and watch television quizzes, soap operas and documentaries. La veglia is an angry, sardonic and harrowing play, in which irony and desperation come together in the same situation of failure.
Rosario Palazzolo is a playwright, author, director and, at times, actor. his theatrical works include, among others: Ciò che accadde all’improvviso, Ouminicch’, Portobello never dies, Letizia forever, L’ammazzatore, and the trilogy Santa Samantha Vs – sciagura in tre mosse, which includes the plays Lo zompo, Mari/age and La veglia, published by Il Glifo. Winner of the 18th International Festival of Theatre in Lugano in 2016, he was awarded the National Critics’ Award for his activity as a playwright.
