Cancelled Event
Created during the lockdown and taking its cue from an autobiographical outline, the new performance by Paolini, with the musical collaboration of Saba Anglana and Lorenzo Monguzzi, is dedicated to theatrical crafts and to a possible new role for live entertainment.

“I think it is important to make people feel good in these challenging times, ensure that the metre of social distancing seems shorter and the minutes longer, ensure that if people want, they can linger for a while after the show has ended, to ask questions and tell stories”. This is how Marco Paolini recounts the creation of Teatro fra parentesi, a show that emerged as the result of a need to imagine an all-round role for live entertainment, considering that categories are no longer sufficient and that words such as Art and Culture used to defend a vital and changing form have a defeatist ring to them. Extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary efforts.
The show, created during the lockdown, was staged during the summer - including performances at the Chiostro Nina Vinchi - for just a few distanced spectators at a time.
Based on an autobiographical plot outline that brings together stories both old and new, it has gradually been enriched with song and music. Together with Saba Anglana and Lorenzo Monguzzi, Paolini has transformed it into a concert dedicated to the craft, or rather crafts, of “making theatre”. Tales of organisers, artists, technicians, administrators, spectators and fans, told in an intimate and personal manner, sharing worries, hopes and exciting projects, providing a clear indication of a possible role for live entertainment based on listening as well as expressing in these times of Teatro fra parentesi (“Theatre in brackets”).
Duration: 90 minutes without interval
