The body and the senses play the lead roles in Insaciable. Accompanied by her musicians and by the bailaor Jonatan Miró, Lucía Álvarez “La Piñona” stages an exploration of the body through the five senses, examining the extreme limits and the possibilities of her dance.
Teatro Strehler
Insaciable (insatiable) is a shared confession, an act of emotional, physical and artistic revelation in which Lucía Álvarez “La Piñona” explores herself, to show herself as she is, shaking off the weight of the abyss and of doubt. A journey of exploration, reaffirmation and liberation, in which the bailaora appears captivating, ready to penetrate, surrender, devour and consume herself. Demonstrating her vulnerability, “La Piñona” chooses to listen to her body, allowing it to act as an organic outlet and driver for the events on the stage, allowing each emotion to have its linguistic correlation. In this sense, Insaciable is also the intimate exploration of what agitates, moves and shakes the artist. The result of endless curiosity and voracious desire. Shaking off shame, seeing ourselves as tireless, excessive, indefatigable, animal and contradictory, exploring all the potential of flamenco.
Lucía Álvarez (Jimena de la Frontera, Cadice) is one of the most disturbing bailaores of her generation. Her career is bolstered by collaboration with the most important international companies, including the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucia. Her influences range from the outer lying areas of flamenco, and her interests focus on the marginal and the independent, seeking the modern aspects of tradition. In constant search of her own expression, her voice and her aesthetic draw on a range of references to strong and independent female figures such as Manuela Carrasco, Patty Smith, Chavela Vargas and Lola Flores.
