In the wake of the success seen last season, the Piccolo once again welcomes the play by CETEC that interweaves the life and poetry of Alda Merini with the stories of the company directed by Donatella Massimilla, which has been working in Italian and international prisons for decades.

Teatro Studio Melato
In the month of March, dedicated to the return of the spring, to women, and to World Poetry Day.
I was born on the 21st in the spring, but I didn’t know that to be born mad, to open the clods, could trigger a storm!... Alda Merini
A theatrical and musical work that focuses on delight and poetry, on friendship and sisterhood.
Words and gazes, sounds and laughter, notes from the piano, the “Inner Voices” of the women inmates of the San Vittore prison, become gestures and actions, visions and inspiring accounts for the performing director Donatella Massimilla and the actress and singer Gilberta Crispino.
Dario Fo had nominated her for a Nobel Prize, considering her one of the great poets of the Twentieth Century, but Alda replied: “I will never accept the Nobel Prize because it is cold in Sweden”.
The iconic objects belonging to the poet, from her typewriter to the famous Wall of Angels, take flight, come to life and are animated in a moving set that is also a tribute to the home-museum of Alda Merini, managed by the CETEC company after having won a call for tender published by the Municipality of Milan.
In collaboration with the Fo Rame Foundation and the Barba Varley Foundation, the aim is also to continue to pay tribute to the greatness of the poet as one of the many, often “nameless”, artists of our cultural landscape.
CETEC is a company that has always promoted working on the sidelines, promoting theatres of diversity with European Edge Festivals, working in prisons in Italy and abroad and carrying forward a form of Social Art Theatre that for more than thirty years has taken the form of impassioned projects that bring autobiographic experiences and important theatrical themes to the stage. Founded by the Rome-born Donatella Massimilla, together with the actress and singer Gilberta Crispino, the company boasts collaborations and appearances with maestros and artists from contemporary theatre and puts much effort into presenting its experiences to new generations.
