Amidst the clashing of weapons and political intrigue explodes the extremely vibrant love between Anthony and Cleopatra, exuberant heroes who go beyond all measures to assert their infinite freedom. Valter Malosti and Anna Della Rosa in the great tragedy written by William Shakespeare between 1607 and 1608.

Teatro Strehler
Anthony and Cleopatra are the exuberant protagonists of a work based on the concept of opposites; male and female, duty and desire, the bedroom and the battlefield, youth and old age, ancient Egyptian beliefs, and Roman realpolitik. Politically incorrect and dangerously vivacious, moving to the mysterious and raging rhythm of an Egyptian Bacchanal, they go beyond reason and politics. Unique and incomparable, even in death they are irrepressible even in death.
«My generation – explains Valter Malosti, here filling the dual roles of director and performer – associates Anthony and Cleopatra above all with the almost kitsch image of the Hollywood pairing of Richard Burton and Liz Taylor. However, this disenchanted and mysterious work that blends tragedy, comedy, the sacred and the grotesque, this wonderful philosophical and mystical (and alchemical) poem that sanctifies the Eros and plays with highs and lows, written in verses that are some of Shakespeare’s most sophisticated and evocative, is, according to various scholars as a demonstration of its profound complexity, characterised by the shadow of our great philosopher Giordano Bruno; a theatre of the mind that demands a new sky and a new Earth.»
