Five actors, five situations, five stories of solitude. A reflection on a place both real and imagined that focuses on the impulses, repressions, and imaginations of an era that every increasingly appears to call for a reasoning on the communities of the living.

An international news item: in January 2018, Great Britain officially nominated a minister of Loneliness, the first in the world, to examine the problems that this can cause on an emotional physical and social level. The following year saw the inauguration of the relative ministry, an «institution with a politically ambiguous nature and uncertain purposes.» This story is used by the company lacasadargilla to reflect on a place both real and imagined that uses language and narrative tools to focus on the desires, repressions, and imaginations of an era that every increasingly appears to call for a reasoning with care on the communities of the living. An original work by, with and for five actors, structured through flashes, encounters and accidents and on physical scripts that approach the concept of dance. A story that examines loneliness above all as a form of incapacity, the difficulty of finding some correspondence to desire – something that by definition is uncontrollable – caused by excessive or reckless hopes that are impossible to satisfy. Then there is that form of loneliness in which one plunges when the absence it follows is impossible to fill and no-one cares.
lacasadargilla writes: «How is one classified as lonely? Is there such a thing as a “loneliness benefit”? What is it and who is entitled? To what classifications must one correspond in order to be defined as lonely and therefore belong to a recognised category? This is the scandal of loneliness. It is the mass of absent people in our lives, whether they are living, dead, ghosts, or a multitude of missed opportunities. A very contemporary loneliness, one of insidious and unreasonably light joy. Loneliness as an atlas of recollections, a catalogue of gestures, to travel the world and hold on to something that is us.»
