«Pain is one of the most important things in my life»; in a manner as simple as it is striking, Dominique Blanc dives into the pure and limpid writings of Marguerite Duras. A unique and exceptional evening to celebrate the founding of the Piccolo Teatro and the art of a director who is irremediably bound to its history: Patrice Chéreau.
Teatro Grassi
With the complicity of the choreographer Thierry Thieû Niang, in 2008 Patrice Chéreau chose the wonderful Dominique Blanc to perform one of the most important works of the post-war period, La Douleur by Marguerite Duras, an autobiographical novel, based on the diary kept in those terrible years by the author, a militant member of the Resistance and the wife of a deported man.
On the day celebrating the anniversary of the founding of the Piccolo Teatro, and ten years on from the death of the great director, one of the most publicly and critically acclaimed French actresses – winner of four César Awards, the Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival, and four Molière Awards, one of which for this play – returns to recreate the intensity and purity of the work of Marguerite Duras.
Duration: 70’ without intermission
