The Symphonic Orchestra of Milan, in its thirtieth year of activity, is protagonist of a diptych of concerts dedicated to contemporary composers and avant-garde language. Music by Azio Corghi, Luciano Chailly, Nicola Campogrande.
Teatro Studio Melato
The Symphonic Orchestra of Milan, now in its thirtieth year of activity, is once again returning for this season at the Piccolo, protagonist of a diptych of concerts dedicated to contemporary composers and avant-garde language. The two institutions are united by a bond that has lasted for twenty years of theatre, from Così fan tutte directed by Strehler in 1998, to the Threepenny opera, directed by Damiano Michieletto in 2016, and to Concerto per Amleto with Fabrizio Gifuni in 2018.
For the first of the two appointments, Andrea Molino leads the company in a programme that includes Soffio armonico (from Il pungolo di un amore) by Azio Corghi, the composer who died last year, Newton-Variazioni in the version for chamber orchestra by Luciano Chailly, and 4 modi di sorridere for sting orchestra by Nicola Campogrande, a resident composer at the Symphonic Orchestra of Milan, the first ever performance for a co-commission by the Symphonic Orchestra of Milan together with the Modernt Chamber Orchestra and the Festival Virtuoso e Belcanto.
