The concert programme has been created to accompany and illustrate various moments in the work of the great Spanish artist through music. The first part of the concert is dedicated to the composer Luigi Boccherini, who met Goya at the Spanish court, with a performance of his symphony in D minor, La casa del Diavolo.
The evening continues with the nocturnal images of Verklärte Nacht by the Austrian composer Arnold Schönberg, one of his most famous to date, performed for the occasion in the version for a string orchestra. The final composition in the programme is El amor brujo by De Falla, a piece chosen to evoke Goya’s works dedicated to magic and witchcraft.
