An intelligent and elegant dandy, who is not enamoured by Puccini’s music, falls in love with a young woman who, as a gift, organises a small concert of arias by the Maestro; lunar, romantic and erotic. Over the course of the evening his diffidence fades away, making way for the pleasure of discovering a great musician and the fertile metamorphosis of contradictions.

Teatro Strehler
Toni Servillo, together with the Symphonic Orchestra of Milan, leads the audience on a journey through the music of Giacomo Puccini in the melologue created by Giuseppe Montesano.
«On stage – explains the Neapolitan writer – is an intelligent and elegant dandy who is not enamoured by Puccini’s music. A young woman has come into his life, and love once again blossoms! However, she adores Puccini; what whimsy!» The only thing the young woman can do is take him to a concert, an evening with the most beautiful and celebrated of Puccini’s arias, to convince the dandy, who is perhaps a bit of a snob, of the beauty of this music. «This evening – continues Montesano – against his will but to appease her, he is at the theatre to listen. In the midst of the orchestra he talks to himself, and encounters the voices of Mimì, Rodolfo and Tosca; lunar, romantic and erotic, and he ironises, and listens, and gets a little irritated, and comments, and his irony continues, but then begins to waver, and his diffidence fights back, but with effort, until, amidst divertissement, thrills and emotion, his defences fall one by one, and the man finally manages to understand; no, not just understand! Now he is able to feel, and he hears that Puccini’s music has been written for something that lies within him, and that awaits him, and with that music he sees deeply within the young woman he loves, and who loves him, and finally he understands why love both overwhelms and enchants him. She thrives on contradictions; she is more fragile and stronger because she knows that contradictions are fertile metamorphoses, she is open to all of life because she has no need for absolute idols, and she knows that beauty and passion go where they wish.»
