A project born of the desire to bring together actors from distant horizons, yet united by history, to present a shared story. SAIGON is the result of a long-term in-depth work in both France and Vietnam, in which every figure bears the marks left by the changes effecting our world.

For SAIGON, Caroline Guiela Nguyen has brought together actors that are French, Vietnamese of French of Vietnamese origin, just like the characters they play in the production. Whatever their age, they share landscapes, faces, songs and a language that, for some, exists only as a memory.
The setting is a restaurant that alternates between Saigon in 1956 – the last year of the French leaving Indochina – and Paris in 1996 – when the Vietnamese government authorised people to return to their native land.
A place subject to the same nostalgia, suspended in space and time between contemporary France and ‘50s Saigon, where the characters are used to clashing, singing, drinking, dancing and loving, in an attempt to celebrate life, no matter what.
Duration: 200’ including one intermission
