The celebrated dancer and choreographer Mercedes de Córdoba presents the Italian première of Ser, ni conmigo ni sin mí, a re-exploration of the freedom and joy of existence in the wake of a fall and abandon to solitude and insecurity, re-establishing contact with others.
Teatro Strehler
Metamorphosis is the common thread for the 17th edition of the Milano Flamenco Festival; three national premières offering an in-depth reflection on the need for change, on ourselves and on others, in a reverse process that begins with the collective and ends where everything begins, with the individual. Three ambitious shows that, without neglecting the beauty, the richness and the deep roots of flamenco, re-examine the social and rebellious element of this art, which is also its essence and its origin.
The third and final performance in the Festival, Ser, ni conmigo ni sin mí, is an exploration in five stages of fear, uncertainty and hope, a search for redemption, rebirth and the regaining of freedom. Mercedes de Córdoba is a modern-day heroine exposed to the pressures of society. An internal struggle between the person and the artist, supported – as in a Greek tragedy – by a choir of three cantaores that echoes the trials of the artist, leading to the final liberation that allows her to live and thrive in peace.
