By popular demand, the return of the play directed and adapted for the theatre by Riccardo Frati: Cosimo Piovasco di Rondò, the young rebel brought to life on the page by Italo Calvino, once again climbs into the trees of Ombrosa, choosing a life “above” convention.
-
Teatro Grassi
After having played to full houses for two seasons, Il barone rampante returns to the stage for the third year running, directed by Riccardo Frati, who also faithfully adapted the novel. Once again, the young baron Cosimo – who has inhabited the imaginations of young (and not so young) readers of the masterpiece by Italo Calvino – climbs into the trees in an “imaginary” Liguria, created in the theatre through an astounding combination of podiums and walkways.
Delicate, light and moving, the play examines the discovery of the world and the sentimental initiation of a passionate and sensitive boy who stays true to himself whatever the cost.
«Young Cosimo, incarnating a drive to improve the world around him – explains Frati –, brings to mind all those who have the courage to choose a different point of view and work for the common good.»
Duration: 180’ including intermission
