Following in the wake of Il gabbiano and Zio Vanja, Leonardo Lidi reaches the final stage of his Progetto Čechov, presenting the most celebrated work by the great Russian author: a picture of a society facing epic changes, the story of the final farewell to infancy and the evocation of «a place that exists only in memory».

Teatro Strehler
After five years spent in Paris, Ljuba returns to the family estate in the Russian countryside. She is greeted with terrible news; due to growing debt, the property is to be sold at auction. The merchant Lopachin proposes to portion the land and put it up for rent, but the woman is not ready to give up her magnificent cherry orchard...
Following Il gabbiano and Zio Vanja, presented on the stage of the Teatro Strehler over the last two seasons, Leonardo Lidi completes his Progetto Čechov: «A trilogy with the same company, stressing the importance and the talent of Italian actors, a true treasure of our theatre. The only thing required from all in taking on the Russian author is soulful sincerity. A crystal-clear expression of will to present audiences with three extraordinary works».
Saturday 16 November, a “Progetto Čechov marathon”, with the three plays performed in succession
