Fifteen years have gone by since 2011, when Lucia Calamaro created, for the first time, L’origine del mondo. Ritratto di un interno, telling of the experiencing and re-emerging from a state of acute depression. Now in 2024, the show returns to the stage, re-adapted to the present with a new, prestigious cast.

«One struggles, yet lives, finds strategies, invents». Concita De Gregorio, Lucia Mascino and Alice Redini are respectively mother, daughter and grandmother in the restaging of a work that, fifteen years on from its debut, confirms its role as a theatrical classic of our times.
Three women, three voices, three different generations are the subjects of an intimate and complex portrait of the most widespread state of mind in the world: depression. «It is not a death sentence», according to the writer and director Lucia Calamaro, but “a changing condition” that one goes through and from which one can emerge, because «the purpose, the sense, the form of a life can be found, constructed, invented or refound, if lost.»
The ironic contradictions of family ties that accompany Concita, Lucia and Alice in their solitary and painful search for inner balance and a place in the world take shape against the backdrop of a dysfunctional everyday interior, which transforms even the appliances into objects that are out of control.
Duration: 125’ including an intermission
