Mario Perrotta takes on the roles of three different men, and dedicates to fathers the first chapter of a trilogy on the changes in millennial families and what universal and eternal aspects remain. The psychoanalytical support of Massimo Recalcati, who contributed to the writing of the stage play is illuminating.

After playing the role of a son (Telemachus, in his version of the Odyssey), Mario Perrotta, accompanied for the dramaturgy by the illuminating psychoanalytical support of Massimo Recalcati, takes on the role of the father in the first chapter of a new trilogy dedicated to families.
“Father is a word that fills my daily life with new challenges and worries. I need to process this word through instruments which I recognise as my own, in order to exorcise the bad examples of fathers that I want to avoid being”, writes Perrotta in his director’s notes.
Using irony and sarcasm “to exorcise my fears”, Perotta stages In nome del padre. “In the body of a single actor, three fathers, all very different from each other in terms of social status, origins, and state of employment. All three are faced with a wall: the back of the sofa that separates them from their sons. The adolescents are the unconnected interlocutors in these non-dialogues, the common horizon of the three fathers who, as a result of continuously coming up against the same wall, have worn down their differences and have come together to become a single figure”.
