«Mother. I have decided to write you this letter, even though you are not who I wanted to reach out to». The story of a prison inmate, who wrote his messages to his mother between the lines of a copy of Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, intertwines with that of an actor who was unable to stage the monologue that was promised to him by Tiago Rodrigues.

Palazzina dei Bagni Misteriosi del Teatro Franco Parenti
Tónan Quito is waiting for the monologue that Tiago Rodrigues has promised to write for him. However, as usual, the writer is late, procrastinating and denying. Why not, then, Tónan asks himself, use a mysterious book from the Lisbon prison library for the show?
Staging the enigmatic relationship between writer and actor, Entrelinhas opens the secret passage that connects reality to the underground worlds of fiction. In a narrative labyrinth, Oedipus Rex intertwines with the letters written by a prisoner to his mother between the lines – as suggested by the title of the play – of an edition by Sophocles’ tragedy. With a performance that earned him a nomination as best actor by Time Out magazine, Tónan Quito leads the audience in a profound reflection on the art of interpretation and the power of theatre.
Duration: 80’ without intermission
