Stefano Massini turns to the decade of research on The Interpretation of Dreams by Freud, and interprets it in first person, putting his narrative flair to the service of a play that is freely inspired by the writings of the founder of psychoanalysis, with the music of Enrico Fink played live.

Where do we go when we dream? What do we try to say to ourselves in that suspended, further and intermediate space that embraces us as soon as we close our eyes? Every being dreams, whether they remember it or not; our existence is a flow of night-time visions, elaborate and complex architectures that respond to a natural need. The question is therefore: why do we dream? According to the founder of psychoanalysis, dreams have a fundamental theatrical impact, which is evident from the original title of the book, which alludes to a veritable dramaturgy of dreams”. This leads to the final question: what rules are applicable in the so-called theatre of dreams?
Involved for more than ten years in a research on The Interpretation of Dreams by Sigmund Freud - to whom he dedicated a successful novel, published by Mondadori and already translated into a number of languages - this time Massini is working in first person, placing his narrative flair at the service of a play freely inspired by and based on the writings of Freud.
A colourful mosaic of characters appears on the stage, accompanied by the music of Enrico Fink, which, in telling its story, creates a symphony of images and possible interpretations, in which the audience recognises and finds themselves.
Duration: 100’ without interval
